Arizona's June Unemployment Numbers Show Growth In Construction

Supported by Beach Fleischman

Arizona's Office of Economic Opportunity released the seasonally adjusted June unemployment rate at 4.7 percent. The rate remains unchanged from May and compares to the national jobless rate of 4.0 percent.

Spokesman Doug Walls said construction employment has recovered 37 percent since the recession hit and housing bubble burst.

"Arizona construction continues its strong growth, up 10 percent over the year and outpacing U.S. construction overall," said Walls.

Walls said there are some positive signs for continued growth in the industry as the state’s population grew and home ownership rates increased this past year.
