Study: Problem Of States Purging Voters Is Widespread

For years now, there has been a steady drumbeat from some calling for tighter restrictions on who can vote in our country.

When he first entered office, President Donald Trump even created a voter fraud commission under the guidance of Vice President Mike Pence. Trump has claimed that massive voter fraud cost him the popular vote in the 2016 election.

Well today, the president has dissolved that commission, and no evidence has ever surfaced to prove Trump’s claims about illegal voting.

But a new report from the Brennan Center for Justiceat New York University found there is a widespread problem in the country with states conducting voter purges.

The Show's Lauren Gilger spoke with Jonathan Brater, counsel for the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center, more about what they found.
