Federal officials continue to reunite migrant families as Thursday’s court-ordered deadline looms.
The government has so far reunited nearly 1,200 children age 5 and up with their families or guardians.
Government lawyers wrote in court documents that they are giving the American Civil Liberties Union daily updates on reunifications. The government continues to make two lists: one of parents released inside the country, and another of parents deported from the U.S.
Lawyers for the ACLU want to talk to parents facing deportation. But they wrote that they have not received new information from the government about the migrant parents and their children since last Friday.
The ACLU and the U.S. government are due back in court Tuesday afternoon.
