Lutheran Social Services Of The Southwest Helps Recently Reunited Families In Phoenix

Thursday is the court-ordered deadline for the federal government to finish reuniting migrant families. And a local nonprofit has been tapped to receive hundreds of these parents and children.

KJZZ’s Matthew Casey who spent a big chunk of Wednesday afternoon at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. He joined The Show to talk about what's happening.

The Show was also joined by Connie Phillips, the president and CEO of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, where they have been working on reuniting migrant families.

The agency has received 133 families so far and expects it’s a little more than halfway through. We asked her how the agency prepares for incoming cases even though they don't receive a lot of notice.
