A new committee created to work on a drought contingency plan will meet for the first time this Thursday.
Their goal: keep water levels in Lake Mead from dropping drastically.
The lake delivers water to Arizona, California and Nevada and there’s a 50 percent chance a shortage will be declared in 2020.
The group of about 40 people aims to present a water plan to the Arizona legislature in January. Their focus is on excess river water, central Arizona farmers and a water savings program for tribes.
