Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has declared a state of emergency in Coconino County, after excessive rain caused flood damage earlier this month.

Ducey’s office says $200,000 of emergency funds will be used toward recovery efforts. Monsoon storms from July 14 through July 18 brought unusually heavy rain in northern Arizona.

One storm produced three inches of rain in an hour, and another produced five inches in two hours. Some of the affected areas had been hit by a wildfire last year, making them particularly vulnerable to flash floods. The deluges swamped roads, and damaged public and private property.
