Monsoon Stories 2018: Ty Karlovetz, Grand Canyon Park Ranger

Monsoon season in Arizona is both violent and beautiful. Powerful winds and rains can cause flash floods, but the storms can also bring relief from the oppressive desert heat and much-needed water to our perpetually dry state.

And now, as part of our ongoing series exploring the memories, emotions and perspectives the monsoon invokes in Arizonans, we hear from Ty Karlovetz, a park ranger at Grand Canyon National Park.

KJZZ’s Paige Phelps began by asking what it's like when the monsoon comes to the Grand Canyon.
