More than ten wildfires are currently burning in Arizona.

The Ranch Fire is burning in a remote area near Heber-Overgaard and has grown to approximately 1,500 acres. Iris Estes is with the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests and says fire officials are monitoring the lightning-caused fire.

“It’s zero percent contained. They are using it as a fire for a role in the natural forest ecosystem so it is not under full suppression,” Estes said.

Crews are using prescribed burns to control the fire. The entire project area is estimated to be around 12,000 acres.
