A recall has been issued for salads and wraps sold at Trader Joe's, Walgreens and Kroger.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection service has linked the premade food items to cyclospora, the same parasite that lead McDonald's to pull their salads at the end of July.
Terri Farneti, the public health coordinator for Yavapai County, said exposure to the parasite is not deadly.
"Symptoms include watery diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea and fatigue," she said.
This is just the latest in a string of food-borne illness concerns. This summer, romaine lettuce, Goldfish crackers, fresh cut melon and Honey Smacks cereal were among the items whisked off grocery shelves or even tied to serious illnesses and deaths.
A recent report from the Agriculture Department does show regulators recall about twice as many products as a decade ago. They credit this not to more unsafe foods, but better testing, more robust tracking and companies participating in voluntary recalls.
As for the incidents this summer, it's not uncommon for recalls to spike in the hot summer months as it's harder to keep foods at safe temperatures.
