The American Civil Liberties Union says two Arizona residents suing Congressman Paul Gosar have dropped their lawsuit after Gosar said he will no longer block people on social media because of a difference in opinions.
The ACLU says Gosar’s change in position follows the filing of a lawsuit by Kingman resident J’aime Morgaine and Prescott resident Paul Hamilton. The ACLU represented the pair, saying Gosar’s social blocking violated their free speech.
In recent court filings, Gosar says he’s no longer blocking anyone from his Facebook page and that he has established guidelines for moderating the page.
But, despite this, a post from a year ago defending the practice of blocking can still be found on his page.
In June, President Donald Trump unblocked critics after a court ruled that social media blocking violates the First Amendment.
