Low AzMERIT Scores Show Demographic Splits Among Arizona Students

As Arizona students head back to school, the latest AzMERIT test scores have come out — and the results are not good.

Overall, the majority of students failed the mandatory state test, which includes math and reading portions. But when you break down the results further, there are also wide demographic splits.

White and Asian students passed the exam at about twice the rate of Native American, Hispanic and black students.

Dana Naimark, the president and CEO of Children’s Action Alliance, joined The Show to discuss these results.
