Perseid Meteor Shower Peaks This Weekend In Arizona

The Perseid meteor shower is expected to peak this weekend and should be visible over Arizona. Marvin Percha is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Phoenix.

He said the skies in rural areas beyond the glow of the city should be clear enough to spot the meteorites.

“You really have to be well outside of the city lights," Percha said. "The light pollution really washes them out and makes them very difficult to see. If they were to go out to Superstition State Park or if they could get up to Flagstaff, Northern Arizona that would even be better.”

Percha said there may be partial cloud coverage, but it will be clearer than the past few evenings.
