Red Cross Opens Cooling Station For Those Without Power In Mohave County

At least 23 thousand Mohave Electric Cooperative customers lost power this weekend in Bullhead City, Mohave Valley and the surrounding areas. Recent storms caused damage to a transformer, leaving many Mohave Electric Cooperative customers without air conditioning.

Cassidy Penney with the American Red Cross said her organization has opened a cooling center for affected residents.

“So we really encourage anyone who does not have electricity to get out of the heat and just to go to the cooling station until the power can be restored,” Penney said.

80 percent of those who lost power had it restored by about noon today Sunday, but the cooling station remains open until power is restored to everyone affected.
