DEA, Mexican Officials Collaborating To Crack Down On Drug Groups

Federal law enforcement officials are promising to work closer with their Mexican counterparts to better pursue drug kingpins.

American and Mexican police have long collaborated in stopping the flow of drugs and drug money. An announcement this week from the the Drug Enforcement Administration and Mexico's Attorney General's office is notable, in part, because of bilateral tensions in other areas, like immigration and the border wall.

This new plan will create a new enforcement group based in Chicago, and a greater emphasis on attacking cartels' financial infrastructure.

Officials say one of the key targets is the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which they believe operates widely on both sides of the border.
