Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is seeing more passengers each year. July marked the 10th consecutive month of year-over-year passenger growth.

Spokesman Ryan Smith said the airport served about 130,000 passengers last month alone.

“It’s due to a combination of things — Allegiant adding new flights and bringing in airlines like Swoop and WestJet with passenger traffic to Canada," Smith said, "and then in addition, people are just finding out that it’s easy and convenient to fly out of Gateway to 46 destinations.”

Smith said airport officials have been preparing for the growth by bringing in more concessions and creating additional security lines.
