LDS Church Leaders Wants To Discourage Use Of Term 'Mormon'

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is much more commonly known as the LDS Church — and its followers as Mormons.

But top members of the church — led by President Russell M. Nelson — have decided to mount a public push to use its full name and discourage the use of abbreviations or other modifications.

What difference will that make and will the effort succeed?

Patrick Mason, chair of Mormon Studies at Claremont Graduate University, joined The Show to talk about it.
