The Havasupai Reservation will reopen Saturday for the first time since early July. Flooding rushed through a world-famous gorge off the Grand Canyon, forcing about 200 people to evacuate.
The remote reservation is famous for its picturesque Havasu Falls. Tourists can only reach the area by foot, mule or helicopter. About 30,000-40,000 people visit every year.
Most of the damage was on an 8-mile trail that leads to the tribal village of Supai. Heavy rain wiped out the switchbacks and left behind large boulders.
The tribe that calls the area home has spent the past few weeks cleaning up with the help of neighboring tribes and volunteers.
