Four people are missing and more than a dozen are injured following a boat crash on the Colorado River Saturday night.
The crash happened in Moabi Regional Park about 300 miles east of L.A. First responders were working with little to no light when the crash was reported and some victims were found three to five miles downstream.
Eric Sherwin is a spokesman with the San Bernardino County Fire District. He said they originally thought only two people were missing, but that has been updated to four.
“We were looking at a scene ultimately that was as big as five miles long on both sides of the river on California and Arizona and we were getting conflicting reports of the total number of occupants between the two vessels.”
Several boaters in the area stopped to lend a hand. Sherwin said the cause of the crash is under investigation and recovery efforts are ongoing.
