The Arizona Cardinals won’t be playing in University of Phoenix Stadium anymore. The franchise is going with a new name for the Glendale venue.
Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill introduced a group of people to the facility Tuesday.
“Welcome to State Farm Stadium!” Bidwill said, pausing for applause.
The University of Phoenix will still be what Bidwill called a “building partner” but all the signage in the stadium will be State Farm.
Both companies have operations in the Valley.
Bidwill touted the economic potential of an NFL stadium in Arizona.
“The events that have taken place here over the last decade-plus had an economic impact for the Valley and for the state of over $4 billion,” Bidwill said at the press conference.
The naming-rights deal with the Cardinals and State Farm lasts for 18 years.
