Billionaire philanthropist Tom Steyer, who is behind the Clean Energy for a Healthy Arizona initiative, is also behind a campaign to recruit young voters.
Steyer is investing more than $30 million in what is believed to be the largest “get out the vote” campaign in U.S. history.
His group, called Next-Gen America, is targeting young voters on college campuses nationwide, including here in Arizona.
In 11 battleground states, he sees an opportunity to flip representation in key congressional races.
However, getting young voters to the polls is both a challenge and key to winning the mid-terms.
To do that, Next-Gen has adopted strategies like using therapy puppies to help petitioners lure in students and then register them to vote.
