The city of Phoenix is preparing to honor those who lost their lives 17 years ago on 9/11.
Phoenix Fire Captain Rob McDade said there will be bagpipes, special guest readings, and the posting of an American flag that flew over Ground Zero during the rescue and recovery operation at the World Trade Center.
"Citizens are welcome to come down into the large lobby area of City Hall," McDade said, as the ceremony begins at 8:30 Tuesday morning.
"There'll be fire, police, folks that were down there at 9/11 and just to make sure that we mark that anniversary."
McDade said many of the incoming fire and police recruits were only three years old when terrorists struck America.
"We want to make sure that our new folks that are going to be fire fighters for the next 30 years and police officers, as well as the citizens, respect that day," he said, "It's a very important day."
