Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall in North Carolina on Thursday, with what one federal official calls a “Mike Tyson punch.”

But Florence isn’t the only hurricane forecasters are keeping an eye on. Monday was the height of the Atlantic hurricane season, and meteorologists are also keeping their eyes on the Pacific, where Hawaii is potentially in the path of Tropical Storm Olivia.

To talk more about all of this, Tom Galarneau joined The Show. He’s an assistant professor in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
