"We Gon’ Be Alright" by Jeff Chang.

Jeff Chang is an arts activist. His book "Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A History of the Hip Hop Generation" documents the growth and impact of hip hop culture in the U.S. from New York in the 1970s to today. Now, he says movements like Black Lives Matter have given new life to the kind of resistance that hip hop gives voice to.

Chang is in town this week to host a series of conversations about hip hop and public policy and, Wednesday night, he’ll be in the historically African-American Phoenix community of Eastlake Park to talk about race and resegregation.

His newest book, "We Gon’ Be Alright," is on the topic.

The Show spoke with him about hip hop and how he thinks hip hop culture has intersected with Black Lives Matter in recent years.
