After 40 Years, Is The End Of Tucson Unified's Desegregation Lawsuit Finally Near?

After more than 40 years, a judge’s ruling could finally mark the beginning of the end of a lawsuit over desegregation in Tucson schools

In 1974, a federal court ordered the Tucson Unified School District to desegregate its schools. But, only in the last year has the district finally shown some willingness to comply, according to a federal judge overseeing the case. But, while everyone seems to agree that they would like to end court supervision in the case, plaintiffs are concerned this is a rush to judgment.

To catch us up on all of this, Hank Stephenson with the Arizona Daily Star joined The Show from Tucson.

Lauren Gilger, host of KJZZ's The Show, is an award-winning journalist whose work has impacted communities large and small, exposing injustices and giving a voice to the voiceless and marginalized.
