Arizona Median Household Income Up, But Still Lags Behind Pre-Recession Levels

The median household income in the U.S. has been climbing since 2012 and finally — in 2017 — it crested pre-recession levels from 2007.

Numbers released this week by the Census Bureau show Arizona’s median household income is also on the up and up, rising 3.4 percent from 2016. That’s the highest it’s been in years — but at $56,581, it’s just shy of 2007 and 2008 numbers.

Enrique Lopezlira with Grand Canyon University’s Colangelo School of Business joined The Show to tell us how we should interpret all this.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
