An all-hazard team from Arizona is helping first responders in North Carolina deal with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Florence.
The 15-member team arrived in North Carolina last week before Florence made landfall and were dispatched Sunday to the city of Laurinburg.
Tiffany Davila is with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. She said the team specializes in emergency management services, logistics and flood rescue.
“They received 20 inches of rain over the last few days. It caused severe flooding. Crews were doing high-water rescues. They had to do mandatory evacuations because of the dams nearby. We had tornadoes that touched the ground.”
Davila added that the crews were back out Monday going door-to-door to see if anyone was left behind.
