What Does It Mean When Federal Officials Violate The Hatch Act?

Last week, Stephanie Grisham — spokesperson for First Lady Melania Trump — was found to be in violation of the Hatch Act because of a tweet.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley have also been cited for violating the Hatch Act.

The act was signed by FDR in 1939 and prohibits executive branch officials from using official authority and government resources for partisan political purposes.

Donald Sherman, deputy director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW), joined The Show to talk more about the Hatch Act.
