Flooding In North Carolina Waterways Spark Fears Of Pollution

More than two weeks after Hurricane Florence hit the Carolinas with high winds and a storm surge of up to six feet, NASA satellites are tracking the resulting flooding — and the images are stark.

You can see dark, murky waters flooding out of North Carolina waterways into the Atlantic Ocean, raising concerns about pollution from the contaminated waters.

But, Rachel Noble’s lab at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill has been testing the waters since the storm, and are finding that contamination is limited to a few, key areas. Otherwise, they’re seeing the water quality is pretty good.

Dr. Noble joined The Show to talk about their findings.
