Trial Pushed Back For Mesa Man Accused Of Making Illegal Ammo

The trial has been pushed back from this month to next year for a Mesa man whose fingerprints were found on unfired ammunition at the scene of the 2017 deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Dennis Haig, 55, is facing a federal ammunition-manufacturing charge for allegedly making tracer and armor-piercing bullets at his home. But he is not charged in the shooting along the Las Vegas Strip, during which gunman Stephen Paddock killed 58 people dead and injured hundreds.

Prosecutors say an address on a box found in Paddock's hotel room led investigators to Haig. Haig remains free under federal supervision pending his March trial. The date was reset at the request of federal prosecutors, and Haig’s attorney did not object.

Haig wants the trial to be moved from U.S. District Court in Las Vegas to Phoenix to be closer to his home.
