Part of Interstate 17 closed Monday night in Phoenix after a shooting involving several law enforcement agencies left one man dead.
The freewayreopened Tuesday, 18 hours after the altercation.
A section of the I-17, where it splits from I-10 all the way to Seventh Avenue, was closed overnight and into morning rush hour after the incident.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the suspect, now dead, was wanted for attempted carjacking.
During the pursuit Monday, they say the suspect started shooting, which led DPS troopers to shoot back. Three troopers were hurt with non-life threatening injuries.
Mesa and Phoenix police departments became involved, which led to the closure.
DPS officials say the scene needed to be preserved because it is a complex, multi-agency multiple-officer involved shooting investigation.
No identities were released.
