Earlier this week, reports surfaced that the Interior Department’s internal watchdog had referred an investigation into Secretary Ryan Zinke’s behavior to the Justice Department — that’s according to the Washington Post and CNN, who cite anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

It’s still unclear which investigation may have been escalated, Zinke is the subject of at least 18 federal investigations, according to the Post.

Zinke’s lawyer has since said the secretary has not been contacted by the Justice Department, but there has long been talk of Zinke possibly stepping down even before this news due to the many ethical controversies swirling around him.

Ben Lefebvre, an energy reporter with Politico who has written all about those allegations, joined The Show to give some insight.
