Earlier this year, the Census Bureau reported that Maricopa County was the fastest growing county in the U.S. last year, adding almost 74,000 people.
Arizona State Demographer Jim Chang said that, overall, the median age of people moving to the state is 33.5, meaning half of those people are older than that, and half are younger.
That’s the third oldest median age in the country, according to Chang. He also said his forecast calls for 1.5 percent annual growth for a while, before slowing down to a little more than 1 percent compared to last year’s growth, which was 1.7 percent.
With all of those people moving to the state and the Valley, what does that mean for the region and the kinds of services it provides?
