The U.S. box office has been dominated for the past several years by characters like the Avengers, Black Panther, Spider-Man and the X-Men — all of them superheroes who were either created or brought to a level of immense popularity by Stan Lee of Marvel Comics.
Lee was a unique figure, dominating the comic book industry for decades and making Hitchcockian cameos in the recent films and video games.
Lee passed away on Monday in Los Angeles at the age of 95.
