'LikeWar:' How Social Media Has Become A Weapon

Russian efforts to inject doubt into the American electorate leading up to the 2016 election included use of Facebook and other social media as influential tools.

Conspiracy theorists have been able to gain some traction through similar methods. Even ISIS has utilized social media to intimidate adversaries on and off the battlefield.

P.W. Singer has co-authored a new book called " LikeWar: The Weaponization of Social Media" that explores what has happened in social media over the past five years that has enabled it — and its users — to make such an impact, including as it relates to fighting wars, and not only of the cyber variety.

The Show spoke with Singer recently, and he started by explaining the term “like war.”
