An event in metro Phoenix aims to connect employers with specialized workers.
Organized by Estrella Mountain Community College, the Skilled Trades Expo will highlight job openings and training programs for carpenters, welders, electricians and more.
Frank Perkins with the college said people can also learn about educational programs in utilities, power plant technology and industrial manufacturing.
“You can get into entry level jobs for as low as probably around 20 to 25 dollars an hour,” he said. “But then you can also get into entry level jobs in certain fields like power generation that can nearly 30 dollars an hour to begin.”
He said they expect more than 30 vendors and 250 attendees. The free expo will take place at West-MEC Southwest Campus at 500 N. Verrado Way in Buckeye on Saturday, December 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
