Deceptive flyers advertising solar deals in Maricopa County.

The Arizona attorney general is warning consumers about deceptive flyers advertising deals on solar panels.

The flyers have the appearance of coming from a government agency. They even display a modified version of the Maricopa County seal and advertise solar energy systems for homes through state and federal programs. But when consumers call the number they instead get a sales pitch from a private company.

Similar flyers have appeared around Las Vegas.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office warns the so-called “Maricopa County Solar Initiative” isn’t registered to do business in the state and that consumers should submit a complaint if they believe they are victims of fraud.
