Pew Report: Number Of Undocumented Immigrants In U.S. Reaches 12-Year Low

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrest undocumented migrants
U.S. Customs and Border Protection
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrest undocumented migrants on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande River in McAllen, Texas, on Nov. 15, 2018.

The Trump administration has increased efforts over two years to tighten border security and adopt policies to deter more undocumented immigrants from crossing into the United States. But there had already been a slowing of undocumented immigration prior to that.

The Pew Research Center has released new numbers showing that undocumented immigration into the United States reached a 12-year low in 2016.

Mark Hugo Lopez, director of global migration and demography research at Pew, joined The Show to talk about it.
