Last month, Attorney General Mark Brnovich was reelected to his second four-year term by defeating Democratic challenger January Contreras.
The race was closer than expected, which some attributed to millions of dollars in ads being spent late in the campaign against Brnovich — some by billionaire progressive activist Tom Steyer. That reality led Brnovich to directly denounce Steyer from the podium on Election Night as he declared victory.
In his first term, Brnovich was known for consumer protection actions, but also for joining in on a number of lawsuits against the federal government, and for aggressively criticizing — and suing — the Arizona Board of Regents for what he said were unconstitutional increases of in-state tuition at public universities.
The Show caught up with Brnovich and started the conversation by asking how the Attorney General’s office has been a fit for him — a person who has long been known as someone who believes in smaller government.
