Former Phoenix Brophy College Preparatory Clergy Accused Of Sexual Abuse In New Report

The Jesuits West Province of the Society of Jesus has  released a report of credible claims of sexual abuse of minors or vulnerable adults by clergy.

Eight of the claims are against clergy who were previously assigned to Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix.

Six of the eight Jesuits listed who have been accused are deceased. Of the two surviving, one was dismissed by the Church in 1988 and the other was removed from ministry and placed on a safety plan.

According to the report, the allegations involving former Brophy clergy were reported from 1992 to as recently as this year.

Kathy Mabry, director of communications at Brophy, said a letter was sent to their community and that was the extent of any statement about the report they would make at this time.
