Phoenix City Council To Vote On Water Rate Increase

Phoenix residents could pay more for water starting in February. The City Council is expected to vote on Wednesday on a proposal to raise water rates by 6 percent each of the next two years.

Officials say the increase is needed to build infrastructure for alternative water supplies to deal with Colorado River shortages.

The money would also pay to replace and fix up some of the city’s existing water infrastructure.

To talk about this, Sarah Porter, director of the Kyl Center for Water Policy at ASU’s Morrison Institute, joined The Show.
