Robert Sarver: 'The Phoenix Suns Are Not Leaving Phoenix'

In the midst of negotiations with the city of Phoenix over renovations to Talking Stick Resort Arena, Suns owner and managing partner Robert Sarver said he wants to make one thing clear.

“First and foremost, the Phoenix Suns are not leaving Phoenix. I am 100 percent committed, and have been for the past 4 years, to find a solution to keep them in downtown Phoenix where they belong.”

Sarver made his comments in a Twitter post by the team Thursday night. He said he is a strong proponent of renovating the arena and once again “restore it to a world-class facility.”

Sarver also said it was important for the team to build a first-class practice facility.

This week, the Phoenix City Council postponed voting on $230 million in renovations for the arena — $150 million of which would be from public money.

Phoenix residents will have the chance to learn more about the proposal at a series of five public meetings to share details and gather input.
