How Democrats, Republicans Plan To Prioritize Health Care In New Congress

When Democrats take control of the U.S. House of Representatives in a few weeks, the kinds of health care bills coming out of that chamber will likely be very different than what we’ve seen over the past several years.

We have two perspectives on what federal health care priorities will be in the new Congress, starting with the Democrats.

Emily Gee is a health economist at the left-leaning Center for American Progress. The Show spoke with her last week, before the ruling in the Texas v. United States case on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) came out.

Even though Democrats will control the House, Republicans will still be in charge in the Senate, and control the White House.

For a sense of what the GOP’s health care priorities will be, The Show also spoke with Doug Badger, a visiting fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank in D.C. We also spoke late last week before the Texas judge’s ruling in the case against the ACA came out.
