Arizona Cities To Use EPA Funds To Restore Outdated Pipes, Arsenic Issues

The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded more than $30 million to Arizona to help fund drinking water infrastructure improvements.

The $30 million goes into a fund that is supplemented with state funding, according to a press release.

This fund program acts like a bank by providing low interest loans to eligible recipients, such as the cities of Safford and Prescott.

Safford has identified almost 60 miles of pipeline that is outdated and failing.

Prescott is using the funds to centralize the wastewater treatment system.

And, according to the EPA, a water company in the West Valley will use funds to install a centralized treatment to address local arsenic issues in Glendale.
