Prescott Regional Airport Shooting For 10,000th Passenger By The End Of The Year

The holiday travel rush is under way. AAA forecasts that more than a third of Americans will travel this holiday season, which they’re calling record-breaking.

But one airport is trying to get more passengers to come through this travel season. Prescott Regional Airport just celebrated its 9,000th passenger of the year by awarding them a prize!

What's the prize? A staycation in Prescott!

And they’re shooting for 10,000 passengers by the end of the year, because if they hit that goal, then they’re in for a prize

"The reason why we’re pushing for that is because that will unlock $1 million in federal funding to help with capital projects at our growing airport," said John Heiney, who's with Prescott’s Office of Tourism.

Heiney said they expect the 10,000th passenger to board a plane on Dec. 29. That lucky person will be the winner of two vouchers for flights out of Prescott, just in time for post-holiday travel slump.
