Wells Fargo Bank will have to pay more than $37 million to Arizona to resolve claims that the bank violated state consumer protection laws.
The bank opened millions of unauthorized accounts and enrolled customers in online banking services without their consent.
According to a statement from the Arizona Attorney General’s office, Wells Fargo improperly referred customers for enrollment in third-party renters and life insurance policies.
The bank will pay a total of $575 million nationwide for these and a number of other violations.
