Winter weather caused slow traffic in Northern Arizona Thursday night and into Friday morning. Drivers saw significant delays on I-40 between Williams and Winslow, as well as the I-17 between Camp Verde and Flagstaff.
ADOT spokesman David Rookhuyzen said the worst of the storm has passed, but they’re still expecting a lot of people to drive North to play in the snow.
“We’re just cautioning people to expect delays, especially around the Flagstaff area," Rookhuyzen said. "Also, as always we’re telling people that if you go up to play in the snow, please do not park along the highways. Those are for emergency situations and people should find safer places to play.”
Two inches of snow fell at the Flagstaff airport Thursday night.
We've got enough daylight now to get good views of the winter conditions around #Flagstaff. Photos are from I-40 at Williams, Flagstaff and Winona (about 10 miles east of Flagstaff). ADOT plows are out but expect slick roads and keep your speed down. #azwx #aztraffic pic.twitter.com/WnOtO8m9kW
