Dolphin Dies At Dolphinaris Arizona Attraction In Scottsdale Area

A dolphin has died at a Scottsdale-area aquatic entertainment facility.

It marks the third dolphin death in under two years at Dolphinaris Arizona.

In a Facebook post, the general manager of the facility called it an "extremely sad day" and said the 11-year-old dolphin named Khloe died after struggling with a chronic illness brought on by a parasite.

The online post said the condition had been managed for nearly six years and those efforts had helped extend the dolphin's life. It concluded by saying the other dolphins are doing well.

In May, a 10-year-old dolphin died at the Scottsdale facility.

A group called Dolphin Free AZ — which opposes keeping dolphins captive in the state — called it devastating news and said it would continue protests against the business.
