More than 6,000 Arizonans who attended certain for-profit schools and were deceived about the cost of their education are now eligible for $22 million in debt relief.
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that his office along with 47 other states and the District of Columbia has reached a settlement with Career Education Corporation, a for-profit company that operated Collins College, Harrington College of Design, Le Cordon Bleu and several other schools.
In a statement, Brnovich said the $22 million will help “thousands of students who were saddled with large debts and degrees that were less useful than CEC led its students to believe.” CEC operated several campuses in Arizona that are no longer in business.
