ADOT Repairing Tucson Freeway That Caused Vehicle Damage

ADOT is repairing a road on Interstate 10 in Tucson between Ruthrauff Road and Miracle Mile that was causing damage to vehicles. The road’s asphalt was coming apart and pieces hit some vehicle windshields. ADOT spokesperson Tom Herrmann says it’s unusual since the road was repaved in 2014, so it is replacing the asphalt with concrete, a material used on other Arizona freeways.

“We’re only gonna be working at night so that we have minimal impact on the traffic on the freeway itself. It’s important to know that we aren’t closing down the entire freeway for that section. We will have at least one lane open, in most cases we’ll have two lanes open.”

ADOT says drivers whose vehicles were damaged by this section of the freeway can file a claim on its website azdot.gov. ADOT expects to finish the road repair by Jan. 19.
