The Show regularly checks in with Editorial Board of the Arizona Republic to talk about the big issues facing the state and the region — featured in the newspaper’s Viewpoints section.

The 2019 legislative session began today, and Gov. Ducey’s State of the State address is coming up as well.

One of the more intriguing aspects of the session is the fact that Arizona has a budget surplus estimated to be around $1 billion. With that comes a potentially longer session as lawmakers battle over the possibility of putting additional funding toward K-12 education.

Arizona Republic Editorial Director Phil Boas joined The Show for his weekly appearance to talk about it.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
